When we audited ODAT Services back in 2025, several issues were found in their case management billing operations.
ODAT Services had eight months of claims, from April through November 2025. This required a complete manual reconciliation due to tracking and submission gaps which we identified.
A large volume of completed appointments was not billed at all, along with several claims that were denied due to missed or incorrect authorization information.
As there was no formal appointment and authorization verification process, the ODAT team struggled. They weren’t able to ensure whether all encounters were being billed accurately or not.
In order to address these issues, MedCare MSO developed a comprehensive recovery plan that targeted the critical problem areas.
MedCare MSO manually resubmitted all claims for the period April through November 2025 to find any discrepancies. Based on this information, we performed corrections, resubmissions, and payer follow-up.
An appointment verification process was created to simplify the billing procedure, which was done weekly. The protocol contained matching claims, checking authorizations, and checking encounters with billed services.
A new systematic audit process was established to ensure that all patient encounters were billed. This reduced the risk of missed charges and ensured the accurate capture of all services.
